Sixteenth meeting of the Transpennine Topology Triangle

The focus of the meeting is on toric manifolds and varieties.
The talks will be in Q8.
We expect to go to eat and drink nearby in the early

The plan is to meet in the staff common room which is N2 (so on N floor) by
12:30pm and then go together to the Mumford Room in Staff House for lunch.
Latecomers can make their own way there. From the entrance to the Maths
building take the widest path. It will lead you between a red brick building
and a black brick one. Then you will see a building partly supported on
columns. This is Staff House: the Mumford Room is on the first floor.
Anyone who wishes to participate is welcome: we shall operate the
usual arrangements for assistance with travel expenses.

How to get there
If you don't know how to find UMIST
there is more information at
UMIST Homepage, but here are some practical instructions.
UMIST is very close to Manchester Piccadilly railway station (the main station
for Manchester), but the route is not obvious.
Leave the station by the main exit.
Immediately on leaving turn sharply right and you will see a small flight
of steps leading down. Take these: you will emerge in a tunnel.
Turn left and you will get to a busy road with the small Hotel International
in front of you. Cross over the road and turn left. Watch out for the trams.
Ignore any signs pointing to UMIST. You will go under a railway bridge and
then you will see a motorway bridge. Just before the motorway bridge on the
right is a tall grey concrete building. This is the Mathematics and Social
Science building. The entrance is on the other side.
